Web1 de out. de 2010 · The first part of this work investigates the validity of the classical solitry wave paradigm for tsunamis. Our study involves the evolution of transient waves, from the initial release of a hump of water, then propagating large distances over flat bottom and finally shoaling over a mildly sloping bottom from the ocean to the beach. WebSince the early 1970s solitary waves have commonly been used to model tsunamis especially in experimental and theoretical studies. Unfortunately, the link to geophysical scales is not well established, and in this work we question the relevance of this paradigm to large scale tsunamis.
